Crude oil production has dropped by 16.6% during the first seven months of 2017 compared to the same period of last year, the Central Bank of Tunisia said in a monthly report on economic and monetary development published after its Executive Board meeting in late September.

The document further pointed out that on a quarterly basis its growth for July is estimated at -17.4% for the third quarter of 2017.

The energy sector was marked by production stoppage in several oil fields due to social unrest in Tataouine and Kebili, the succession of technical failures at the level of some production sites and natural declines in several wells that had a negative impact on the crude oil production, the document added.
